Abstract: The study deals with Great Moravian and Cyrillo‑Methodian issues in seven publications by František Hrušovský. The study compares Hrušovský’s texts in individual publications, emphasizing their historical, period and ideological interpretation, and at the same time it points to the development of Hrušovský’s scientific knowledge, and scientific terminology in these two topics during the years 1939-1948. In all his works, Hrušovský mentions the Christianizing influence from the West, especially in connection with the reign of Charlemagne. Hrušovský’s concept of Slovak history includes, in addition to the history of the Slovak ethnicity, the history of the territory of Slovakia. In all the reviewed publications, Hrušovský highlights the Christianization merits of Pribina in Nitrava, but especially in Balaton Principality. Prince Rastislav is given sufficient space in all publications. The examined publications, in addition to the book Slovakia in the History of Central Europe, devote quite a lot of space to the Cyrillo‑Methodian mission, the invitation of the Byzantine mission and the biographies of Constantine and Methodius, especially the description of their activities among our ancestors. Hrušovský gives a factual and objective account of the life and reign of King Svätopluk, but does not harbour any personal sympathy for him.
