About the Journal
Historický zborník (Historical Miscellany) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal focused on Slovak national history from the earliest times to the present. It publishes papers devoted to political, economic, cultural and social history, thematically focused nationwide, but also regionally in the case of the importance of the regional issues in the national context. It also deals with the international context of Slovak history, the history of Slovaks abroad and the history of Matica slovenská. It is published by Matica slovenská in the Slovak Historical Institute of Matica slovenská in cooperation with the Historical Department of Matica slovenská.
Historický zborník was founded in 1943 as a journal of the Historical Department of Matica slovenská. Between 1943 and 1947, five volumes of the journal were published, each with four issues. Subsequently, its publication was discontinued. In 1996 it was restored as the sixth volume and was published once a year, since 2000 twice a year.
Historický zborník publishes scholarly articles (studies, materials, edited documents), biographies of historiographical personalities, reviews and information reports. The texts are published in Slovak or English. The abstracts and keywords of the scholarlypapers are in English. The papers undergo editorial and language editing.
Historický zborník publishes only original, unpublished scholarly papers, subject to approval by two reviewers in an anonymous review process and by the journal's editorial board.
Historický zborník is published twice a year (in June and December) in print and electronically on a dedicated website www.zbornik.sk. It is an open access journal. There is no charge for publication. Articles are accepted electronically at the following e-mail address: redakcia@zbornik.sk. The editorial deadlines for issues are 15 February and 15 August.
