Abstract: Slovaks in Vojvodina were very active politically after the establishment of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (Yugoslavia) in 1918. They had one political party, the Slovak National Party. In 1918–1924, the Slovak National Party first tried to establish cooperation with the Serbian Democratic Party, then with defectors from the Serbian Radical Party. When this policy failed, they tried to reach an agreement with the Serbian Radical Party. In the first elections, many Slovaks voted for the Communists. In addition to the Slovak National Party, Slovaks also voted for other parties. In Sriem (Syrmia) many Slovaks voted for the Croatian Republican Peasant Party. Slovak politicians were most active in Bačka, where most Slovaks lived, less so in Sriem and Banat. The main political representatives were the Chairman of the Slovak National Party, Barrister Ľudovít Mičátek, and Evangelical Lutheran Pastor, Igor Branislav Štefánik. In this period, Slovaks had a representative in the Yugoslav parliament only in the years 1919–1920. The Slovak National Party was not very successful, although the Slovaks as a whole achieved some successes.
