Abstract: The main characteristic of the political activity of the Slovaks in Vojvodina (Yugoslavia) in the years 1924 – 1929 was the cooperation between Slovak national party with main serbian National radical party and, as a reaction to this, the departure of the majority of Slovaks from Slovak national party and their leaning towards other political parties. The Slovaks and their party were in a difficult position because cooperation with one of the national Serbian political parties meant revenge from the other when the political conditions changed. Frequent changes of government and frequent elections (every other year) had a very negative effect on Slovak politics. What the Slovaks gained from one government for cooperation with the ruling party, they mostly lost after the change in political conditions. Due to the political failures of the Slovak National Party, its representatives decided to rename it to the Slovak National Peasants‘ Party in 1927, in order to emphasize that the party is not only national but represents the majority of Slovaks who are peasants. King Alexander‘s coup d‘état in 1929 was accepted by many Slovaks with satisfaction because, in addition to Slovak National Peasants‘ Party, all political parties were banned. The most important politically active Slovaks in Vojvodina in this period were chairman of the party Ľudovít Mičátek and publisher Andrej Labáth.
