Abstract: The study deals with the period of existence of the Czechoslovak State Academy of Education in Bratislava. Its aim is to develop the issue of the organization of study and the educational process itself in a broader context as part of the reform of the school system – along the lines of the most up-to-date educational trends of the interwar period. The establishment of the State Academy of Education in Bratislava was in many ways to copy the previous educational institutions for teachers providing an academic form of education – the School of Higher Educational Studies and the Private Educational Academy in Prague – the establishment of which also dates back to the period of the First Czechoslovak Republic. Based on the historical methods used, in particular the historical comparison, the study analyzes specific areas of the teaching process at the two educational institutions in the context of study at the State Academy of Education. The creation of the Bratislava State Academy of Education was the culmination of the efforts to introduce academic teacher education. The interwar Czechoslovak society, facing many requests, was not yet ready to establish fully-fledged pedagogical faculties within the structure of universities. The Czechoslovak State Academy of Education in Bratislava educated teachers from various parts of the republic at a high professional level and was the direct predecessor of today's educational faculties in Slovakia.
